The debut album from Queen Of The Gipsy is a fusion of Flamenco and Electro. They call their music Electro Gipsy. Unfortunately, this seems a little bit misplaced because there’s only downtempo music. I’ve listened to the album several times and with all respect to the musicians and everyone who’s involved, the music does not captivate at all. Uninteresting melodies, too much the same and a little bit boring.

I was very suprised when I receive a request to review the new album of B-Tribe. I am a huge fan of the Barcelona-Tribe and especially of the music of German composer, songwriter, producer and pianist Claus Zundel aka “The Brave”. He has created several worldwide successful musical projects, most notable - Sacred Spirit and B-Tribe (sold 20 million copies combined), as well as more Indie projects such as “Moroccan Spirit”, “Classical Spirit”, “Divine Works”, “Ancient Spirit” and his latest project “Tango Jointz” (2007).

The previous B-Tribe album “5″ was released in 2003. What to expect five years later? To be honest, I’d no idea because I’d never thought that B-Tribe was still alive …

The album “Volume 6″ contains twelve tracks. Paco Fernandez plays all guitars and he does it sublime. The arrangements are great and the sound is atmospheric. When listening, you’re in a Mediterranean environment; warm, smooth and relaxing. Need a cocktail? Listen to “Principessa” and take a sip. The track “Suspiro” is inspired by Chet Baker and adds a little bit jazz to the album, just like the (sampled) voice of Esther Phillips on the last track. All the music is downtempo, with a lot of ambient sounds and fit very well together. It misses some power compared with previous B-Tribe releases.

The previous album of musician, producer and DJ Andrea Benini “The 11th Pill” is a mix of latin-jazz, swing and ballads. With “Kiss Of Kali” the band Mop Mop has created a very groovy album with a great mix of jazz, funk and sophisticated percussion. Every track is a little pearl. The beats and vibes are original and are an invitation for everyone who just love good music!

The latest edition of the Wave Music Series opens with the Latin-flavored song Seduçao by Barrière feat. Themis. This is a great opener for an even greater double-album. The music of Blue Six, Marc Antoine, Toco, Ronny Jordan, Mystic Diversions and many others is perfect for an evening with your closest friends. The music creates an environment with the right mood and ambiance. Listen to songs like Rendez-Vous by Culture Beat, Me and Mrs. Jones perfectly covered by Sarah Jane Morris, Twilight by Brian Simpson and you’ll know what I mean. Volume 12 offers a great mix of sophisticated Pop, contemporary  Jazz, Latin, Chill out and great vocal music. Just sit, relax and … open your ears.
